India's Ambitious Bid: Can Ahmedabad Secure the 2030 Commonwealth Games?

India has formally put in an expression of interest to stage the 2030 Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The bid, spearheaded by Indian Olympic Association President P.T. Usha, is in pursuit of winning the centenary edition of the multi-sport competition. This follows India's larger desire to stage the 2036 Olympic Games. India successfully staged the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi in 2010 despite some challenges. With the deadline for March 31, India hopes to take advantage of the recent challenges the Games have encountered in securing host cities. The bid has been endorsed by the government of Gujarat and showcases Ahmedabad's ability to host big-ticket events, including the final of the 2023 Cricket World Cup.
