India's EV Revolution Accelerates: Registrations Soar to 56.75 Lakh

India's electric vehicle (EV) adoption has reached a new milestone, with 56.75 lakh EVs registered on the e-Vahan portal as of February 8, 2025. This surge represents a significant increase from 45.74 lakh registrations reported in July 2024, showcasing the rapid growth in the EV sector. The government's push for sustainable transportation, including initiatives like the PM E-DRIVE Scheme with a ₹10,900 crore allocation, has been instrumental in driving this growth. States like Telangana are further boosting adoption with tax exemptions and registration fee waivers for EVs until December 2026.
