India’s Green Acceleration: Driving Towards a Sustainable Digital Future

India is adopting smart driving technologies to transform its transport industry and achieve ambitious sustainability targets. The government's PM E-DRIVE initiative, announced in September 2024 with a budget of ₹10,900 crore, will spur EV uptake through fiscal incentives and digitalization. Smart driving technologies such as real-time feedback systems and AI-powered analytics are optimizing fuel efficiency and lowering emissions. These innovations are in line with India's goal of becoming net-zero by 2070 and lowering energy emissions intensity by 45% by 2030. Challenges such as infrastructure development and initial costs notwithstanding, the intersection of technology, policy support, and industry cooperation is opening the door to a cleaner, more efficient mobility future in India.
