Key Highlights from the PM e-Drive Initiative

Challenges in Deployment and Government Response

Delays in the FAME-II rollout were attributed to overcommitments by manufacturers and state transport undertakings failing to meet infrastructure requirements.

City-Wise Allocation of Electric Buses

Bengaluru will receive 4,500 buses, Delhi 2,800, Hyderabad 2,000, Ahmedabad 1,000, and Surat 600.
Major cities such as Chennai, Kolkata, Pune, and Mumbai were absent from Phase I but are expected to participate in Phase II.
Between January 2020 and April 2025, India deployed approximately 9,630 electric buses, accounting for 4 percent of total bus sales in FY25.
