India's Semiconductor Industry Pushes for Boost in Budget 2025

As Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman prepares to unveil the Union Budget 2025-26, India's semiconductor industry is calling for increased support. Chip makers and designers are demanding higher budgetary allocations, lower import duties, and reduced GST levies to accelerate growth. The India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA) has proposed extending the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme with an additional $20 billion over five years. Industry leaders emphasize the need for more funding in chip design and manufacturing to strengthen India's position in the global semiconductor market.
