Island of Wonder: Sri Lanka Welcomes Half a Million Tourists in Early 2025

Sri Lanka has received more than 500,000 tourists during the first two months of 2025, recording a strong recovery in its tourism industry. Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority recorded 530,746 visitors from January 1 to March 5, with India emerging as the largest source market. This increase comes after a successful 2024, where Sri Lanka had recorded its goal of 2 million tourist arrivals. The nation's attempts to improve safety and market itself as a viable destination are yielding dividends, fueling economic growth and foreign exchange inflows.
