JERA Aims to Boost US LNG Imports Amid Growing Global Competition

JERA, Japan's largest power generation company, is looking to increase its US LNG imports despite rising global competition. JERA Asia's CEO stated that while competition for US LNG is expected, Japan aims to manage supply through various options. Currently, about 10% of JERA's LNG comes from the US, but the company plans to explore attractive sourcing options from North American projects. JERA seeks to maintain a certain percentage of Henry Hub-linked contracts in its energy procurement strategy. This move aligns with JERA's goal to diversify its LNG supply chain and enhance energy security amid growing demand from data centers and AI sectors.
