Jio’s Signal Strengthens: Millions Flock to India’s Favorite Network in April 2025

With strong subscriber gains, Jio confirms its market supremacy; Reliance Jio keeps ruling India's telecom industry and records remarkable growth in April 2025. With 2.6 million new customers, Jio strengthened its dominance in the market, according to the most recent Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) report. This shows continuing momentum in user acquisition as it is a consistent rise from 1.8 million in February and 2.2 million in March.

April 2025's major highlights

Keeping its leadership in the wireless industry, Jio added 2.6 million total subscribers.

With 5.5 million active subscriber additions, this was the second month in a row of 5+ million VLR increases.

Jio's Visitor Location Register (VLR) ratio increased to 96.6 percent, almost identical to Airtel's 98.9 percent, yet considerably ahead of Vodafone Idea (85.1 percent) and BSNL (61.4 percent)

An overall subscriber increase of 1.9 million in the telecom sector points to economy-wide expansion.

Through JioAirFiber, fixed wireless access (FWA) Expansion Jio's aggressive push in the sector keeps generating great results.

In April, Jio added 0.57 million fresh FWA customers, up from 0.33 million in March.

With a subscriber base of 6.14 million, the firm now controls 82 percent of the market share in the FWA sector.

A major contributor of this success has been JioAirFiber's accessibility across 5,900+ villages and towns.

Competitive Environment Competitors struggle even as Jio keeps its rising trend.

Bharti Airtel's subscriber growth decelerated, adding only 0.2 million new consumers in April vs 1.3 million in March.

With 4.1 million fewer active subscribers, Airtel begs questions regarding churn and retention policies.

Continuing its decline, Vodafone Idea lost 1.1 million active users and 0.6 million total subscribers.

Losses were also recorded by BSNL; 1.8 million active customers left its network.

Beyond mobile consumers, Jio rules broadband and 5G Fixed Wireless Access.

With Jio contributing almost four times Airtel's additions, April saw unprecedented growth of 0.91 million fixed broadband consumers (wireline and FWA).

Quick growth for JioAirFiber has established it as the preferred option for high-speed internet connectivity.

In the Machine-to- Machine (M2M) category, Jio kept an 18.2 percent market share while Bharti Airtel topped at 53.3 percent.

Sustained subscriber growth for Jio, expanding active base, and evident leadership in 5G FWA highlight its tactical execution and market dominance. Jio's foray into developing areas like FWA and its large-scale 5G rollout position it as the main engine of growth in India's telecom sector as rivals battle with memory and fresh upgrades.
