Kolkata Police Apprehends Mastermind Behind ₹47 Lakh 'Digital Arrest' Scam

In a significant breakthrough, Kolkata Police have arrested Subhojit Das, the alleged mastermind behind a 'digital arrest' scam that defrauded a Golf Green resident of ₹47 lakh. Posing as CBI officers, Das and his accomplices threatened the victim with arrest using a fake Supreme Court warrant, coercing her into transferring substantial funds over two months. The police have also arrested eight others involved in the racket, including two women. This operation underscores the growing menace of cyber frauds exploiting fear and impersonation to deceive unsuspecting individuals.
