Leveling the Playing Field: India's Bold Move to Regulate E-Commerce

The Indian government has introduced draft rules to enhance accountability in the e-commerce sector, addressing issues like consumer protection, data misuse, and monopolistic practices. Platforms must now conduct strict KYC for sellers, display detailed product information, and ensure transparent policies for refunds and cancellations. The Competition Commission of India (CCI) is also investigating Amazon and Flipkart for alleged anti-competitive practices, including exclusive agreements and algorithm bias. These measures aim to create a level playing field for small businesses while safeguarding consumer interests.
