ISRO Chairman Dr. V. Narayanan stated that India has achieved three world records in cryogenic engine technology, a milestone that was accomplished despite earlier international sanctions. Giving a lecture at IIT Madras on March 17, he noted that India is now among six countries possessing this advanced technology, which is crucial for launching heavier satellites. The success includes overcoming the cryogenic engine on the third try, accomplishing the engine-to-flight process in 28 months (compared to the international average of 42 months to 18 years), and getting a test conducted in 34 days—a task that takes five to six months elsewhere. The engines power the third stage of GSLV and LVM launch vehicles and are essential for human-rated missions like Gaganyaan.
