L&T Soars with Record Orders: A Double-Edged Sword for Margins

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has reported a record quarterly order inflow of ₹1.16 lakh crore, marking a 53% year-on-year increase. Despite this impressive growth, the company's core engineering and construction margins remained flat at 7.6%, raising concerns among investors about potential margin compression. While L&T's consolidated revenue rose by 17% to ₹64,700 crore, the profit fell short of expectations, highlighting challenges in maintaining profitability amid rising costs. The mixed results have left analysts cautious about future performance.
