Made in India" Gets a Boost: Anti-Dumping Duties Imposed on Chinese Products

To safeguard domestic industries, India has imposed anti-dumping charges on five Chinese goods, including vacuum flasks and aluminum foil. The charges, valid for five years, are imposed on the products sold in India at below-normal market value. The products subject to these charges are Soft Ferrite Cores, vacuum insulated flasks, aluminum foil, Trichloro Isocyanuric Acid, and Poly Vinyl Chloride Paste Resin. The charges vary from USD 89 per tonne to USD 1,732 per tonne. The decision was recommended by the Directorate General of Trade Remedies, and is directed against the rising trade deficit with China, which came in at USD 85 billion in 2023-24.
