Mangrove Plantation Drive Launched to Save Aghanashini Riverbanks

A major mangrove plantation drive has been launched along the Aghanashini River banks in Uttara Kannada district, Karnataka. The drive, promoted by Skodwes, Aster DM Foundation, and Forest Department, hopes to enhance foliage and check soil erosion on coastlines and riverbanks. Dozens of volunteers planted thousands of mangrove seedlings to further environmental conservation. The drive targets the problems created by heavy downpours and increasing water levels that have challenged coastal residents over the past few years. The organizers intend to scale up mangrove cultivation on a large scale, with both environmental protection and regional tourism promotion.
