Meeting India's Rising Power Demand: A Renewable Energy Pathway

India is confronted with a major challenge in fulfilling its increasing power requirement, which hit an all-time high of 238 GW in February 2025. To meet this, a report by the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW) recommends increasing non-fossil fuel capacity to 600 GW by 2030. This comprises 377 GW of solar, 148 GW of wind, and 62 GW of hydro power. Such a massive renewable energy trajectory would not just fulfill demand dependably but also lower generation expense and carbon output, generating thousands of employment opportunities and saving billions in power procurement expenses.
