Mizoram's Olympic Dream Takes Flight: Grooming Future Champions For 2036

Mizoram has initiated the "Empowering Mizoram Sports" scheme with the objective of preparing young sportspersons for the 2036 Olympics, for which India is in the running to host. The program, which aims for children in the age group of 8-15 years with specialization in sports having high Olympic qualification prospects, will work under a Public-Private Partnership framework and intend to promote community participation and talent cultivation across Mizoram. For ₹2.5 crore, it will first be launched in a few districts before being rolled out statewide. It aims to improve Mizoram's performance in national and international competitions by developing homegrown talent.
