Monumental Devotion: World’s Biggest Shivling To Rise At Virat Ramayan Mandir

Bihar is preparing for a historic spiritual event as the world’s largest shivling has reached Kaithwalia in East Champaran district. The massive structure, carved from black granite in Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu, weighs 210 tonnes and measures 33 feet in height and circumference. It will be ceremonially installed at the Virat Ramayan Mandir on January 17, accompanied by Vedic chants and sacred water offerings from Kailash Mansarovar, Gangotri, Haridwar, Prayagraj, and Sonepur.  

The shivling’s journey was itself monumental. Transported over 2,500 kilometers on a specially designed truck, it took 45 days to reach Bihar, passing through Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh before arriving in Gopalganj and then moving to Kaithwalia. The installation will mark the completion of the Shiva temple, the first of 18 temples planned within the Virat Ramayan Mandir complex.
