More Than Just a Stopover: Andal Airport’s Lounge and Upgrades Delight Passengers

After a wait of ten years, Andal's Kazi Nazrul Islam Airport (KNIA) has opened a stylishly designed 1,500 sq ft lounge, a major improvement in passenger comfort and amenities. Managed by Flurys, the lounge serves the needs of corporate managers, business tourists, and travelers, with north Indian, south Indian, and continental cuisine. Its arrival has been greeted enthusiastically by regular travelers and local business leaders, who view it as a welcome addition to the airport's increasing reputation.

The new lounge addresses a long-standing request from the business community and will be expected to boost the airport's attractiveness for regional companies.

 

The terminal building measuring 60,000 sq ft can accommodate 1.2 million passengers in a year and serviced more than 500,000 travelers for the year 2024-25.

 

Numerous food courts, effective baggage management, lost and found counter, ATMs, and medical room facilitate travel that is trouble-free and safe.

 

Wheel chair push and escorted staff are offered for passengers of decreased mobility as evidence of its focus on being inclusive.

 

Seven daily flights now link Andal to key cities such as Bengaluru, Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bhubaneswar, Bagdogra, and Guwahati, all operated by IndiGo.

 

The infrastructure comprises six check-in counters, two baggage belts, Wi-Fi, taxi booking, and a CAT-I instrument landing system, facilitating convenience and operational efficiency.
