Nature's Bailout: Indus River Gifts Pakistan a Golden Economic Opportunity

According to preliminary reports, the site near the Indus River in the Attock district of Punjab province in Pakistan is believed to be home to one of the highest reserves of gold so far, pegged at inflated values of around Rs 80,000 crore. The find was made during a government-commissioned survey in Attock district, Punjab province. The state-backed Attock Placer Gold Project aims to extract and monetize these deposits, potentially providing a significant economic boost to the cash-strapped nation. The gold is believed to originate from the Himalayas and is carried down in the Indus River. But given this could be an opening for Pakistan to salvage its economy, challenges lie in stopping illegal mining and the proper management of resources.
