Naval Supremacy Achieved: India's New Missile Outsmarts Moving Targets

The flight trials of the Naval Anti-Ship Missile Short Range (NASM-SR) were successfully executed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Navy on 25 February 2025, from Integrated Test Range, Chandipur, Odisha. It exhibited its Man-in-Loop feature via a direct hit on a small ship target in sea-skimming mode at its maximum range. While performing its terminal flight, the NASM-SR employs an indigenous imaging infra-red seeker and also displays a high-bandwidth two-way datalink system for in-flight retargeting. The development of such a unique missile by several DRDO labs marks an important leap in India's naval defense capability.
