Nepal Eyes Spiritual Tourism Windfall from Maha Kumbh 2025

The ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 in Prayagraj presents a golden opportunity for Nepal's tourism sector. With over 450 million visitors expected, Information Officer Gagan Yadav suggests Nepal can promote its sacred sites like Pashupatinath, Muktinath, and Lumbini to pilgrims. Many devotees attending Kumbh also visit Ayodhya and Varanasi, making it an ideal time to showcase Nepal's religious attractions. This strategy aligns with recent India-Nepal tourism initiatives, including the first joint tourism meet held in Kathmandu last December, which focused on promoting cross-border spiritual circuits. Nepal's tourism industry stands to benefit significantly from this once-in-144-years event.
