CESC Ltd’s renewable arm, Purvah Green Power, has signed a major agreement with Envision Energy India Private Limited for the supply, commissioning, and long-term maintenance of 1 GW wind turbine generators (WTG). This move marks a significant leap in CESC’s clean energy ambitions and positions the company at the forefront of India’s renewable transition.

Key Highlights

1 GW Wind Turbine Supply: The agreement covers the supply and commissioning of wind turbines totaling 1 GW capacity, leveraging Envision’s advanced 5MW turbine platform, recognized for its high efficiency and suitability for Indian wind conditions.

Long-Term Operations & Maintenance: Envision will provide comprehensive operations and maintenance services for a minimum of 10 years post-commissioning, ensuring optimal performance and reliability of the wind assets.

Technology Edge: The turbines feature a 182-meter rotor diameter and 140-meter hub height, delivering over 40% higher annual energy output compared to previous-generation turbines, and promise one of the lowest levelized costs of energy in the sector.

Strategic Growth: This deal is part of CESC’s broader renewable strategy, which includes recent acquisitions and hybrid energy projects aimed at building a 3 GW renewable portfolio across Rajasthan and Gujarat.

Supporting India’s Green Goals: The partnership supports India’s national renewable energy targets and CESC’s commitment to sustainability, with the new wind capacity expected to significantly boost green power supply to the grid.

Industry Impact: The agreement strengthens Envision’s presence in India, following similar landmark deals, and underscores growing momentum for large-scale wind and hybrid renewable projects in the country.

“This landmark agreement with Envision Energy India is a major step in CESC’s journey to expand its renewable energy footprint and deliver reliable, sustainable power to millions,” said a senior CESC official.
