American India Foundation’s Gala Night: Where Generosity and Glamour Spark $4.5 Million for Change

The American India Foundation (AIF) set a new record at its 2025 New York Gala, which took place at Cipriani Wall Street on June 10, raising more than $4.5 million—its highest single-event figure ever. Almost 700 guests, comprised of business, philanthropic, and Indian-origin changemakers, came together for a night focused on driving progress in public health, education, and livelihoods in India.
Key Highlights:
Record-Breaking Fundraising: The event raised more than $4.5 million, the most ever raised in AIF's 24 years.
Honoring Visionaries: The event honored Roshni Nadar Malhotra (Chairperson, HCLTech) and Douglas Peterson (former President & CEO, S&P Global) for their vision and philanthropy.
Immersive Experience: Guests engaged with AIF's award-winning MANSI (Maternal and Newborn Survival Initiative) program in a live Virtual Reality demonstration, giving them a first-hand look at the work of the organization.
Major Gifts: Bharat and Neerja Desai gave $1 million to support educational initiatives, including the DEEP Shaala program in Amreli, Gujarat, to bridge the digital gap for children.
Star-Studded Night: The evening was hosted by comedian Zarna Garg and included a menu designed by Chef Gaurav Anand, providing a dynamic cultural flair.
Corporate Sponsorship: The primary sponsors included EXL, Goldman Sachs Gives, HCLTech, Mastercard, and S&P Global.
Tribute to Leadership: AIF Chairman Emeritus Ajay Banga paid tribute to late Victor Menezes, AIF founder and former Chairman Emeritus, emphasizing the India/US heritage and AIF's future.
Impact at Scale: Up to 2001, AIF had reached more than 21 million individuals in 35 states and union territories of India, and this year's gala further fueled growth of its programs.
AIF CEO Nishant Pandey emphasized the power of partnership when he stated, "Tonight is not about philanthropy—it is a community act of faith in the potential of partnership… Tonight's record-breaking giving not only funds programs but shows our collective commitment to Viksit Bharat as we reimagine opportunity.".
