India's archery team made a strong assertion at the Archery World Cup 2025 Stage 2 in Shanghai as veteran Deepika Kumari picked up her 12th solo World Cup medal and youngster Parth Salunkhe claimed his first medal in international competition. Their bronze medal-winning performances in the closely-fought recurve events marked the end of an unforgettable campaign with India ending the campaign with seven medals across the disciplines.
Deepika Kumari’s Historic 12th Individual Medal

Deepika Kumari, a four-time Olympian, secured her 12th individual World Cup medal by defeating Korea’s Kang Chaeyoung 7-3 in the women’s recurve bronze medal match.

This was India’s first medal of the year in the women’s recurve category.

Deepika delivered near-perfect scores in the final two sets (30 and 29), sealing the win and denying Korea a clean sweep in the event.

Deepika had defeated China's Li Jiaman in the quarterfinals earlier but was beaten 1-7 by South Korea's reigning Olympic champion Lim Sihyeon in the semifinals.

This medal earns Deepika more honors as one of India's best-decorated archers, now holding 37 World Cup medals in total.
Parth Salunkhe's Breakthrough Bronze

Reigning U21 world champion Parth Salunkhe won his first-ever World Cup medal after beating France's Baptiste Addis 6-4 in the men's recurve bronze medal match.

Seeded 60th, Parth surprised a number of top-ranked opponents along the way, including Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion Mete Gazoz and South Korea's Kim Je Deok, a triple Olympic gold medallist.

In the semifinal, Parth lost to Olympic champion Kim Woojin of South Korea by a narrow margin after a fierce comeback, finally losing 4-6.

In the bronze medal match, Parth kept his cool in a 4-4 tie, hitting two 10s consecutively in the final set to emerge victorious.

Recurve Teams Fall Short, Compound Archers Excel
India's recurve teams such as the mixed pair of Deepika and Dhiraj Bommadevara, the men's trio of Tarundeep Rai, Atanu Das, and Dhiraj, and the women's team of Deepika, Ankita Bhakat, and Anshika Kumari, fell short of podium finishes.
Compound archers showed a strong performance, with five of India's seven medals being achieved in this discipline.
What's Next
The Archery World Cup then travels to Antalya, Turkey, for Stage 3 between June 3-8, and Indian archers hope to continue this run.
