All Eyes on the New Reign: BCCI to Crown Test Duo, Kohli Exit Still Cloaked

The BCCI will announce India's new Test captain and vice captain for the star-studded England tour during a press conference on May 23 or 24, with Shubman Gill set to be appointed the skipper. The selection panel, led by Ajit Agarkar, will also announce the entire team for the five-Test series on June 20 at Headingley. Rishabh Pant is most likely to be made vice captain over Jasprit Bumrah due to pacer injury concerns and workload management.

 

As speculation around a possible Virat Kohli captaincy comeback flowered, BCCI has been mum on his retirement, though there are reports that Kohli has informed the board that he is ready to retire from the Test format.
