India's pay-TV market has registered a dramatic increase in subscribers recently with 1.3 million new additions. The growth, say industry insiders, is due to the current season of cricket tournaments, especially the ICC Champions Trophy and IPL 2025, which have taken the nation by storm. The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 broke viewership records, and the India-New Zealand final reached 230 million viewers and a high of 122 million concurrent viewership on television and 61 million on JioHotstar. Similarly, IPL 2025 has broken viewership records with over 253 million viewers tuning in during its opening weekend. This cricket frenzy has resulted in higher demand for pay-TV, with people wanting to have high-definition viewing for live matches.
