The Bengal government has officially approved the occupancy certificate of ITC Infotech's new generation campus in New Town, Kolkata, as a milestone for the state's IT and digital economy ambitions. This was announced by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, citing the scale of the project and how it can make West Bengal a high-priority destination for tech investments.

Occupancy Certificate Released: New Town Kolkata Development Authority (NKDA) has released the occupancy certificate for the IT & ITES campus of ITC Limited, with the operations to start imminently.
Major Investment: The campus is an investment of approximately ₹1,200 crore and covers 17 acres in Action Area-III of New Town, on land provided by the West Bengal Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (WBHIDCO).
World-Class Infrastructure: The campus consists of three buildings—a high-rise office building, a business support centre, and a knowledge centre exclusively dedicated—to offer over 14.5 lakh sq ft of built-up area.
Job Creation: The campus will generate direct jobs for more than 5,000 professionals, significantly increasing the local job opportunities and regional economy.
Strategic IT Hub: ITC Infotech, a wholly-owned subsidiary of ITC, will set up its Global AI Centre of Excellence (CoE) within the campus, serving global customers in 40 geographies and as a digital innovation hub for the ITC Group.
Government's Vision: CM Mamata Banerjee strongly believed that this success would make West Bengal a destination for investors for national and international technology-based enterprises.
The step is an indicator of Bengal's commitment to creating a robust digital ecosystem and attracting marquee investments in the IT sector.
