India is gearing itself to emerge as a world leader in 6G technology by 2030, Minister of State for Communications and Rural Development, Dr. Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, said at the 'Bharat 6G 2025' International Conference held in New Delhi. The Minister painted a vision of change that seeks to take India from a technology adopter to a standard-setter globally.

Bharat 6G Vision:
Unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in March 2023, the Bharat 6G Vision establishes an ambitious timeline for India to design, develop and deploy 6G technologies by 2030, considering the initiative a national mission.

Strategic Alliances and Research
The Bharat 6G Alliance, which has more than 111 funded research projects, is driving innovation through partnerships with international players like Japan, Singapore, and Finland. The areas of breakthroughs are in terahertz communications and AI-native networks.

Technological Leap:
6G is poised to provide ultra-fast speeds of up to 1 terabit per second, sub-millisecond latency, and smart self-healing networks, with impact across healthcare, education, agriculture, and smart cities.

Global Ambitions:
India targets securing 10% of the world's 6G intellectual property rights by 2030 to contribute to global standards and make connectivity inclusive and affordable.

Phased Implementation:
The Bharat 6G Project is organized into two phases: preliminary support for research exploration (2023-2025), and commercialization and worldwide deployment (2025-2030).

Government Commitment
The Minister stressed India's innovation potential, scale, and political will to spearhead the world 6G revolution and encouraged all stakeholders to approach 6G as a civilization-scale opportunity.
