Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Kanpur on Friday, May 30, to kick off a series of major infrastructure and development projects worth a whopping ₹20,900 crore. This high-profile event will unfold at the Chandrashekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology (CSA) grounds, where the PM will also take the stage to address a public gathering.
Among the key highlights is the inauguration of the Chunniganj to Kanpur Central Metro corridor, which features 14 stations, including five modern underground ones, all built at a cost exceeding ₹2,120 crore. This metro expansion is poised to greatly enhance urban mobility, linking important city landmarks and commercial centers.
Additionally, the PM will launch the 660 MW Panki Thermal Power Extension Project, valued at ₹8,300 crore, along with three units of the Ghatampur Thermal Power Project, which comes in at ₹9,330 crore. These initiatives will bolster the state’s power infrastructure. Other projects on the agenda include new substations in Greater Noida, road-widening efforts, rail overbridges at crucial crossings, and a 40 MLD tertiary sewage treatment plant in Bingawan to promote sustainable water management.
Certificates and cheques will be handed out to beneficiaries of key government schemes, underscoring the government’s dedication to inclusive growth. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has been busy overseeing extensive preparations to ensure everything runs smoothly and that public safety is prioritized.
