Breaking Boundaries: India’s First Mixed Disability Cricket Squad Bats for Glory on UK Tour

It was a historic day for Indian sports as India's first-ever Mixed Disability cricket team was given a warm sendoff to Mumbai as they left for their maiden tour of England. The squad, which comprises players with various physical and intellectual disabilities, will compete in a bilateral series against England's mixed disability side, taking inclusivity in cricket to a whole new level.

•⁠  ⁠The 16-strong contingent includes male and female sportspersons with limb disability, hearing and visual impairment, and intellectual disability, a representative sample of India's talent pool.

 

•⁠  ⁠The five T20 matches and community outreach activities in London, Birmingham, and Manchester are supported by the Differently Abled Cricket Council of India (DCCI) and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). The farewell ceremony was attended by cricket legends, celebrities, and government officials, who commended the players' resolve and the project's impact on equality and opportunity.

 

•⁠  ⁠Captain of the team Rakesh Kumar confidently said, "We are not playing to win, but to inspire millions back home."
