Border Security Force (BSF) will resume the iconic Beating Retreat ceremony parade at Attari-Wagah, Hussainiwala, and Sadqi border outposts from today after a 12-day hiatus following a surge in Indo-Pak tensions in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindhoor.

The parade, a show of national pride and military discipline since 1959, was suspended on May 7 as a precautionary measure with the traditional flag-lowering ceremony going on but the complete parade and public gathering on hold.

From today, the parade starts again at 6 pm, pulling back tourists, locals, and reviving the border area's economy. But the international gates will be shut and there will be no customary handshake or cross-border rituals between BSF and Pakistan Rangers, mirroring security concerns.

Spectators will be allowed back shortly, and officials are urging the masses to go and watch in vast numbers to demonstrate patriotic support and inspire the BSF personnel.

The return is a careful step towards a return to normalcy and will be bound to regain the air of vibrancy at the borders while maintaining safety and alertness.
