Chartered Accountants (CAs) in India are in the last countdown: the last three days are left for filing evidence of 40 hours of Continuing Professional Education (CPE) for 2024-25. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has made it very clear—compliance is for all practicing and non-practicing CAs.
Key Highlights:
• Strict Compliance: CAs are required to fill up and post certificates for a minimum of 40 hours of CPE by June 30, 2025. This is applicable to all members, whether in practice, industry, or academia.
• CPE Activities: The following CPE hours will be accepted: seminars, workshops, webinars, and e-learning modules, and writing books or articles. There are 15 hours of self-study per year.
• Penalties for Non-Compliance: Non-compliant members are penalized, with the sanction being striking off the ICAI register, as well as potential suspension of practice.
• Easy Online Submission: The members can upload CPE certificates and track their progress on the ICAI website. Emails and SMS reminders have been sent so that no one would miss the deadline.
• Last-Minute Rush: CAs are urged to go through their records, complete any pending hours, and post certificates before the deadline.
Prospects: It is important to stay current on CPE in order to maintain professional competence and credibility. CAs are asked to respond promptly before the cutoff so they will not be penalized and can proceed with their lifelong learning.
