Hockey India marked the 77th Olympic Day on 23rd June 2025 in a vibrant display of unity, inclusivity, and fair play with member units across the nation organizing a series of engaging activities to spread the Olympic ideals of fitness, friendship, and fair play.
National Sporting Events:
Hockey India and its state member units organized friendly tournaments, exhibition matches, fitness classes, and quiz competitions in various states like Assam, Odisha, Jharkhand, Mizoram, and numerous others. All these attracted individuals of every age and background to embrace physical activity and Olympic values.
Innovative and Eco-Friendly Initiatives:
Poster competitions and essay writing competitions were organized to foster imagination, while tree plantation drives, like those held in Mizoram, were organized to foster sustainability as well as sportsmanship.
Special Engagements:
Odisha's Naval Tata Hockey Academy hosted a special lunch with Olympians and conducted quiz competitions, generating intergenerational dialogue and inspiration among young sports persons.
Alignment with IOC's 'Let's Move' Initiative This year's activities were in support of the International Olympic Committee's "Let's Move" initiative, which invites everyone to bring a "\"+1\"" and move together, reminding everyone that all movement makes the world a healthier place.

President of Hockey India, Dr. Dilip Tirkey, pointed out the togetherness and inclusiveness brought about by these events and said, "Through these large-scale activities, they not only ensure fitness and harmony but also embody the Olympic Day spirit in its truest sense, which is all about inclusivity of all ages, genders, and abilities.".

The festivities also witnessed homage to sport legends and sports benefactors, with politicians such as Assam's Sarbananda Sonowal appealing for a sports revolution and encouraging young people to adopt the virtues of discipline and teamwork.
