In a nail-biting encounter, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) secured a four-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians (MI) in their first match of IPL 2025. Chasing 156, CSK reached 158/6 in 19.1 overs, thanks to a stellar unbeaten knock from Rachin Ravindra.
MI, batting first, managed 155/9 in their 20 overs. Trent Boult was economical, conceding just 27 runs in his three overs, while Vignesh Puthur and Will Jacks took crucial wickets to restrict MI’s total.
CSK’s chase got off to a shaky start, losing Rahul Tripathi early. However, Ruturaj Gaikwad (53 off 26) and Ravindra (65* off 45) steadied the innings. Despite middle-order hiccups, Ravindra’s calm finish ensured victory.
Deepak Chahar and Vignesh Puthur bowled key spells for MI, but CSK’s resilience prevailed. Ravindra Jadeja's run-out in the 18th over added tension, but MS Dhoni and Ravindra guided CSK home.
With this win, CSK starts IPL 2025 on a strong note, while MI will look to bounce back in their next outing.
