Utttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced two major pilgrimage schemes aimed at boosting religious tourism and helping devotees of the Sikh and Buddhist religions. All devotees who are eligible as per the new schemes will be provided with monetary assistance of ₹10,000 to undertake great religious pilgrimages in India.
"Pilgrimages are not only a religious matter but also a means of propagating social harmony and cultural heritage," CM Yogi Adityanath said in a review meeting.
Key Highlights:
Buddhist Tirtha Darshan Yojana:
Offers ₹10,000 help per person, with special focus on Buddhist followers and monks.
Enables visitation to prominent Buddhist pilgrimage sites in India, such as Sarnath, Kushinagar, and Bodh Gaya.
Panch Takht Yatra Scheme for Sikhs
Provides Rs. 10,000 per person to Sikh pilgrims to make the pilgrimage to the five holy Takhts, the holiest seats of authority in Sikhism.
Aims to provide facilities to out-of-state and local Sikh pilgrims.
Simple Application Process:
CM Yogi has requested officials to make the application process simple and convenient for all eligible devotees.
The schemes are inclusive and extend to a wide range of beneficiaries.
Cooperation with IRCTC:

Pilgrimage tours under both the schemes will be managed in collaboration with IRCTC to provide the participants with the secure and well-organized journey experience.
Religious Tourism Boost.
All these are part of UP's overall effort to become a world-class religious tourism hub in itself, riding on the success of Kashi Vishwanath Corridor and efforts of the Maha Kumbh 2025.
The government is hoping that these schemes will contribute further to the earnings opportunities of the local population and improve Uttar Pradesh's image as a state of festivities and religion.
