The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has successfully completed a 0.792-km underground tunnel between Maa Anandmayee Marg and Tughlakabad Railway Colony Station, marking a significant milestone in the Golden Line (Tughlakabad-Aerocity Corridor) under Phase-IV. The breakthrough was achieved using a 96-meter-long Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM), with the second parallel tunnel expected to be completed by July 2025.
The tunnel, constructed at an average depth of 18 meters, features 566 precast concrete rings with an inner diameter of 5.8 meters, ensuring structural integrity and minimal surface disruption. The project is part of DMRC’s 40.109-km underground expansion, with the Aerocity-Tughlakabad corridor contributing 19.343 km.
Officials, including Delhi Transport Minister Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh, praised the engineering precision and commitment to modern urban infrastructure, emphasizing its role in reducing congestion and enhancing sustainability.
