Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is set to construct four new underground stations as part of Phase-IV expansion, strengthening central and eastern Delhi's metro connectivity. The stations—New Delhi, Delhi Gate, Delhi Sachivalaya–IG Stadium, and Indraprastha—will feature advanced infrastructure to ease commuter flow and enhance urban mobility.
The Phase-IV expansion project includes cutting-edge design and construction of complete station structures such as platforms, concourse levels, and service corridors, integrating architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical systems. Measures for safe operation include construction of cut-and-cover station boxes, base slabs, concourse slabs, intermediate slabs, roof slabs, and side-wall structures.
Key highlights:
Four new underground stations: New Delhi, Delhi Gate, Delhi Sachivalaya–IG Stadium, and Indraprastha.
Core objective to improve connectivity between central and east Delhi corridors.
Full station design covering platform areas, concourses, and service corridors.
Safety infrastructure includes pedestrian subways, entry/exit points with escalators, elevators, and staircases.
Support facilities like ventilation rooms, substations, cooling plant rooms, and stormwater management systems included.
This expansion aims to ease congestion and boost public transit usage, ultimately reducing pollution.
Pedestrian-friendly infrastructure to ensure smooth passenger movement.
Part of wider Phase-IV metro expansion with a focus on sustainable urban transit development.
