While relations between India and Pakistan worsen, social media sites have been inundated with reports of the cancellation of flights on the vital Delhi-Mumbai air route. The Press Information Bureau Fact Check division has acted swiftly to debunk these reports, reassuring the public that the Delhi-Mumbai route is still in operation.

Key Highlights:

The viral rumor that Delhi-Mumbai flights are grounded is baseless. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) explained that only 25 segments of Air Traffic Service (ATS) routes in the Delhi and Mumbai Flight Information Regions are briefly closed for operational purposes-not the entire airline route.

The NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) issued impacts certain ATS segments, not scheduled commercial flights between Delhi and Mumbai. Airlines have been instructed to take alternative routes to ensure continuity of services.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation and Delhi airport officials confirmed that flight operations on the Delhi-Mumbai route are normal. However, because of the changing security scenario and increased checks, some flight schedules might face slight delays and longer processing times.

Independently, PIB also falsified a going-viral clip claiming a missile attack on Delhi Airport. The clip was originated from an explosion at a Yemen gas station and has nothing to do with today's India-Pakistan tensions.

Passengers are advised by authorities to wait only for authenticated sources of news, arrive early at airports, and adhere to all security instructions.

In the meantime, 32 northern and western Indian airports are shut down temporarily to civilian flights until May 15 for security reasons, but Delhi and Mumbai are open for normal operations.

Be cautious, believe only authentic sources, and travel safely!
