In a major infrastructure milestone, 0M Infra Ltd has clinched a ₹2,000 crore contract for the 2,880 MW Dibang Multipurpose Hydroelectric Project in Arunachal Pradesh—set to become India’s tallest dam. The project, spearheaded by NHPC Ltd, is a cornerstone of India’s clean energy ambitions and regional development in the Northeast.

The Dibang project, located near Munli village in the Lower Dibang Valley, will feature a 278-meter-high Roller Compacted Concrete (RCC) dam—the highest of its kind in the country and the world. Once operational, it will generate over 11,000 million units of hydropower annually, contributing significantly to the Northern Grid and India’s net-zero goals.

The ₹31,875 crore mega-project is divided into multiple packages, with 0M Infra’s contract covering critical civil works. The project is expected to be commissioned by February 2032 and will provide direct employment to over 500 people during construction and 300 during operations. It also promises 12% free power to Arunachal Pradesh, with an additional 1% earmarked for local area development.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone in March 2024, highlighting the project’s role in flood moderation, energy security, and socio-economic upliftment. With excavation and tunneling already underway, the Dibang project is poised to become a landmark in India’s hydropower journey.
