In a record bid to close the gap between the academic and industry communities, Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, has initiated a grand 'Industry Inside the Campus' scheme. The scheme introduces live industrial environments within the campus itself, giving students direct experience of the new technologies and entrepreneurial ventures.

Key Highlights
  • VTU has set up Visvesvaraya Research and Innovation Foundation (VRIF) to offer space for firms that deal in the drone technology, electric cars, IoT, AR/VR, PCB production, and software development.
  • Finalyear engineering students will begin fullscale training from August, learning by hands but never leaving campus premises.
  • Already operational are innovation hubs like the Schneider Acceleration Centre, Proteus, Cadence, and an EV Lab to fill the skill gap of the graduates against industry requirements.
StudentCentered Influence
  • Over 2,500 students will be impacted in the next academic year.
  • Organizations like Saras Aerospace are training students to design, test, and produce drones to be used in areas from defense to agriculture. Interns have already developed projects like Unmanned Ground Vehicles and Retractor Landing Gear systems, proving the initiative's practical outcomes.
Strategic Vision
  • VTU's ViceChancellor emphasized the objective of not just graduating employable graduates but future employers.
  • It is consistent with national visions to foster innovation, entrepreneurship, and selfreliance in hightechnology industry.
By transforming its campus into a realtime industrial lab, VTU is remapping India's future of technical education.
