In a glory moment for India at International Yoga Day, Gujarat has gotten its name listed in the Guinness World Records. 2,121 yoga lovers performed Bhujangasana (cobra pose) at the Sharmistha Lake complex in Vadnagar, the birthplace of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his childhood.

The function, which was held under the title "Yoga for One Earth, One Health," was conducted by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, with state ministers, local officials, and thousands of yoga practitioners accompanying him. The simultaneous performance lasted over two minutes, which met the criteria of Guinness for the largest number of people performing the cobra pose in unison.

This record-setting feat is part of Gujarat’s broader vision of promoting wellness through yoga, aligning with its “Healthy Gujarat – Obesity-Free Gujarat” initiative. CM Patel praised the event as a reflection of India’s ancient wisdom and PM Modi’s global advocacy for yoga.

Vadnagar’s Sharmistha Lake, already steeped in cultural and spiritual significance, became the backdrop for this historic moment—captured in stunning drone visuals and celebrated across the state.
