Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has highlighted the revolutionary role of digital technology in economically empowering women, gesturing to a new dawn with women as dynamic architects of India's digital economy. Speaking at recent state functions, the CM cited targeted digital initiatives and women-centric schemes that are bridging the gender gap and changing rural and urban livelihoods.

Key Highlights:

•  The JAM Trinity—Jan Dhan, Aadhaar, and Mobile—has increased banking access for women, with more than 30 crore Jan Dhan accounts being in the names of women, which is 55.7% of all such accounts in India.

•  Digital literacy programmes like PMGDISHA have trained more than 2.7 crore rural women, which has enabled them to access financial services, welfare schemes, and entrepreneurship. Self-help groups (SHGs) and digital instruments have strengthened more than 10 crore women across the country, widening economic autonomy and collective agency.

•  Maharashtra's Adishakti Abhiyan and Ladki Bahin Yojana also facilitate increased economic activity by women through direct benefits, economic incentives, and online access to government programs.

Prospect: As digital technology takes center stage in state and national agendas, women are taking their place from the periphery to the core of India's economy. Sustained investment in digital access, literacy, and innovation can sustain this empowerment, placing women at the leading edge of India's inclusive growth narrative.
