Premier Energies Ltd has taken a major leap in solar manufacturing capacity, commissioning a 1.2 GW TOPCon solar cell line and aiming to drive its overall capacity to 8.4 GW for solar cells and 11.1 GW for solar modules by June 2026.
The newly commissioned line utilizes n-type Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact (TOPCon) technology, which is highly efficient and performance-oriented. This move positions Premier Energies among India's leading solar manufacturers because it continues to invest in future-generation photovoltaic technology.
Now, the company has an installed solar cell manufacturing capacity of 8.4 GW (of which 6.4 GW is in process) and an installed solar module manufacturing capacity of 11.1 GW (of which 5.8 GW is in process). The addition supports India's push for domestic solar production under initiatives like the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme and the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM).
Premier Energies has also partnered with Sino-American Silicon Products Inc. (SAS) to co-invest in a 2 GW solar wafer plant in India, further strengthening its vertical integration and supply chain resilience.
This partnership comes after Premier Energies' successful IPO and strong FY24 financial results in which it registered 120% revenue growth and emerged as the biggest Indian exporter of solar cells to the U.S.
