Scholarship boost for inclusive education
In a major push for educational equity, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath distributed scholarships worth ₹297.95 crore to 10,28,205 students under the Pre-Matric and Post-Matric Scholarship Programmes. The event, held in Lucknow, was timed just before Diwali, symbolizing a festival of opportunity for students from marginalized communities.
The funds were transferred directly into students’ bank accounts via the DBT system, ensuring transparency and eliminating middlemen. The initiative targets students from Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC), reinforcing the state’s commitment to inclusive education.
Reforming the scholarship system
Addressing the gathering, Yogi Adityanath highlighted how the scholarship process had previously been marred by delays, favoritism, and corruption. With the adoption of a technology-driven DBT mechanism under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the process has become streamlined and efficient.
The Chief Minister also announced that scholarships will now be distributed twice a year—in October and January—ensuring that students receive timely financial support to continue their education without disruption.
