Google announced a historic $15 billion investment in Andhra Pradesh to build its largest-ever AI data center campus outside the United States. The 1-gigawatt facility in Visakhapatnam will anchor India’s first AI City, combining advanced AI infrastructure, clean energy, and cutting-edge connectivity to drive a transformative digital future.

In a landmark move set to redefine India's digital infrastructure landscape, Google has pledged an unprecedented $15 billion investment in Andhra Pradesh over the next five years. This project will establish the company’s largest artificial intelligence data center hub outside the U.S., housing a 1-gigawatt hyperscale data center campus in Visakhapatnam.

The state government and Google will formalize the agreement in a signing ceremony attended by top government officials, including Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and Google Cloud executives such as CEO Thomas Kurian.

Named "AI City Vizag," the project integrates Google’s full AI stack with large-scale energy sources and enhanced fiber-optic networks. This initiative positions Andhra Pradesh as a global AI and cloud technology hub, poised to accelerate AI-driven innovation and digital transformation across India.

The investment is expected to generate approximately 1,88,220 jobs annually, with substantial contributions to the state's GDP and tech ecosystem. The project benefits from streamlined single-window clearances, renewable energy integration, and plug-and-play infrastructure prioritized by state authorities.

Andhra Pradesh’s IT minister, Nara Lokesh, highlighted the project's transformational potential, stating it as a cornerstone in making the state a digital powerhouse. He emphasized how such massive data initiatives offer a competitive edge in today’s data-driven economy.
