	Gopichand P. Hinduja, the influential chairman of the Hinduja Group and one of Britain’s wealthiest individuals, passed away in London on November 4, 2025, at the age of 85 after a prolonged illness. He assumed the chairmanship of the Hinduja Group in May 2023, following the death of his elder brother Srichand Hinduja.
	 
	Born into a traditional Sindhi business family, GP Hinduja started his professional journey in Mumbai in 1959 and played a pivotal role in expanding the family business from its Indo-Middle East trading roots into an international conglomerate spanning automobiles, oil, banking, media, and infrastructure.
	 
	His visionary acquisitions, including Gulf Oil in 1984 and Ashok Leyland in 1987, marked one of the first major investments by NRIs in India and are celebrated corporate success stories. GP Hinduja was also a vocal advocate for stronger India-UK economic ties.
	 
	Known for his humility, business acumen, and philanthropic commitment, he leaves behind his wife Sunita and children Sanjay, Dheeraj, and Rita. His passing is mourned as the close of a remarkable legacy in global business.
