In a major boost to rural awareness and livestock productivity, more than two lakh livestock farmers across 16 states and Union Territories participated in a nationwide virtual awareness campaign chaired by Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Prof. S.P. Singh Baghel. The virtual initiative focused on empowering farmers with best practices in animal care, nutrition, disease management, and government schemes.

Key Highlights from the National Drive
  • The campaign, conducted in hybrid mode with live streaming across Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) and veterinary institutes, witnessed engagement from 2.13 lakh participants including women livestock keepers, dairy entrepreneurs, and pashu sakhis (community animal caregivers).
  • Participating states included Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, and remote areas from North-East and UTs, ensuring diverse geographic inclusion.
  • Farmers received guidance on improving milk productivity, early disease detection through artificial intelligence-based monitoring, and fodder cultivation techniques to combat rising input costs.
  • Officials explained popular schemes such as Rashtriya Gokul Mission, Livestock Health and Disease Control (LHDC) programme, and cluster-based dairy development incentives.
  • Interactive sessions allowed farmers to ask questions directly to scientists and veterinarians, fostering two-way communication between policy and the grassroots.
Impact and Way Forward
  • Prof. Baghel emphasized the importance of digitization and skilling in livestock management, calling the initiative a step towards Atmanirbhar Bharat in animal husbandry.
  • Feedback from farmers collected post-session will shape future workshops and e-governance modules for livestock development.
  • This mass-scale outreach effort signals the government’s commitment to bridging the knowledge gap in rural India through technology-enabled learning.
