Gujarat Gets a Golden Touch: Modi Unveils ₹77,000 Crore Mega Makeover

PM Modi will inaugurate and lay foundation stones for a plethora of projects during his May 26-27, 2025 visit. The projects will enhance Gujarat's industrial capability, renewable energy base, urban facilities, and connectivity, cementing the state's position as an economic powerhouse.

1. Major Project Launches and Investments

Total project value is over ₹77,400 crore, making this one of the biggest development drives in Gujarat's history.
Major sectors: Energy, transport, urban development, water supply, health, roads, ports, and tourism.

2. Dahod: Locomotive Manufacturing Hub

Commissioning of a high-end electric locomotive manufacturing facility in Dahod with production of 9,000 HP locomotives for domestic consumption and export.
The new locomotives incorporate regenerative braking systems with higher energy efficiency and sustainability.
PM Modi will inaugurate the first electric locomotive from the Dahod plant and multiple rail projects costing approximately ₹24,000 crore.

3. Bhuj: Infrastructure, Ports, and Power Boost

Inauguration of 33 development projects in Bhuj with an investment of over ₹53,400 crore.

Key projects are:

Transmission projects to evacuate renewable power from the Khavda Renewable Energy Park.
Upgradation of transmission networks and commissioning of an ultra-supercritical thermal power plant at Tapi.
Solar PV schemes amounting to over 250 MW in Morbi, Kutch, and Jamnagar districts.
Upgrading roads and port development at Kandla with new oil jetties and cargo storage yards.
Groundbreaking for future energy and transport centers, such as an 800 kV HVDC line and green hydrogen manufacturing facility.

4. Gandhinagar: Urban Development and Clean Air Initiatives

Ushering in 20 years of Gujarat Urban Growth Story, PM Modi to inaugurate Urban Development Year 2025 and State Clean Air Programme.
Inauguration and ground-breaking ceremonies for urban development, health, and drinking water supply schemes.
More than 22,000 new housing units under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) to be handed over to beneficiaries.
Inauguration of the Biodiversity Park at Surat and the second phase of Sabarmati Riverfront at Ahmedabad.

5. Connectivity and Rail Initiatives

Flagging off the Vande Bharat Express between Veraval and Ahmedabad, and a new express train between Valsad and Dahod.
Inauguration of the gauge-converted Katosan-Kalol rail section and a new freight train service.

6. Health and Social Infrastructure

Inauguration of the U.N. Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Centre in Gandhinagar.
Foundation stone for a new 1,800-bed IPD block in Ahmedabad, including a 500-bed infectious diseases facility.
Disbursement of ₹2,731 crore to municipal corporations and ₹569 crore to municipalities under the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana.
