Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke at the 78th World Health Assembly in Geneva, putting the focus on India's vision of inclusive, technology-based healthcare and its intent to share scalable solutions across the world, particularly the Global South. Addressing the theme "One World for Health," Modi underlined that the future of global health is contingent upon inclusion, cooperation, and the care of the most vulnerable.
He pointed to flagships like Ayushman Bharat—the global largest publicly funded health insurance scheme, now covering over 580 million citizens, all over 70 years and more—along with the extensive Health and Wellness Centres network for disease detection early. Modi also spelled out India's digital health advancements, including one-of-a-kind digital health IDs and a telemedicine system that has enabled over 340 million consultations, pushing healthcare to even rural areas.
Modi reiterated India's support for the just-adopted WHO Pandemic Treaty and invited all nations to join the upcoming International Day of Yoga as a testament to the role of yoga in promoting total well-being. In conclusion, he placed India's health models in the form of replicable, sustainable models for emerging countries and asserted India's global health leadership once again.
