In a major boost to India’s healthcare innovation ecosystem, the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has inaugurated a Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Precision and Personalised Healthcare. The initiative, launched in collaboration with the Wadhwani Foundation under its Wadhwani Innovation Network (WIN), aims to accelerate the development of cutting-edge, affordable medical technologies tailored to India’s evolving health needs.
The CoE was formally inaugurated on August 13, 2025, at IIT Delhi’s Research and Innovation Park, with participation from leading voices in science, medicine, and industry.
Key Highlights from the Inauguration
- The CoE is part of a ₹1,400 crore nationwide investment by the Wadhwani Foundation
- Phase 1 will focus on five domains: personalised medicine, bio-imaging and AI diagnostics, assistive tech, affordable implants and wearables, and new diagnostic tools
- The centre aims to fast-track high-impact research from labs to market-ready solutions
- A collaborative platform will bring together academia, industry, and government agencies

The WIN Centre at IIT Delhi is part of a broader initiative to establish Centres of Excellence across premier institutions in India. These centres target strategic sectors including semiconductors, quantum technology, space tech, advanced computing, and healthcare.
